Think The Gig Economy is A Great Place to Earn Some Extra Money?

Are you overworked and stressed out at work? Are you stuck doing a 9 AM - 5 PM job that lacks meaning in your life? Do you want to make some extra cash on the side to fund buying your dream house?
Well then why don't you become a freelancer and join the gig economy?

The gig economy is a new way for workers to engage in a new field of temporary labor that offers flexibility and mobility through the advertisement of services through online platforms, such as Uber, Airbnb, and TaskRabbit.

If you want, you can even work at home.

There are some pretty odd-jobs people in the gig economy are willing to do.

Working as a freelancer might be fun, but you better think twice before you start working in the gig economy.

If you're a freelancer you go where the money is, and if you're Uber driver working at night, that means then you're prone to encounter some drunk passengers from time to time. One female driver for Uber reports to Business Insider about how one of her customers was a drunk man who lays on her lap and tried to grope her.

When working as a freelancer, you're completely on your own. That means you don't have paid sick days, health insurance, or regular protections one would receive in a workplace environment and this is a must-have when you are dealing with strangers on a day-to-day basis.

One couple who rented out their home to a man over the weekend on the site Airbnb, reported on CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation), they had to returned to a house that was in ruins after house party in what the police describes as a "drug-induced orgy."

Better get used to the idea of working multiple part-time jobs with irregular work hours just to keep food on your plate, because like it or not we are heading into a day and age where freelancing is replacing traditional employment.
